NOW Hunters Point is looking for 2 enthusiastic social innovators / instigators, rabble-rousers for good causes to help produce the Summer Saturdays Event Series in Bayview Hunters Point. Over the course of this 16-week internship, the ideal candidates will assist in the design, organization, and implementation of a series of weekly community engagement activities designed to continue the transformation of the former Hunters Point Power Plant site into a dynamic activity center the benefits the local community.
The ideal candidates will have a strong desire to work with diverse communities and cultures, a demonstrated interest or background in community engagement, grassroots organizing and / or event production. They will be highly motivated with enthusiasm for on the ground learning and hands-on event production.
Assist with planning, logistics and event coordination of weekly public programs
Assist with event logistics, production schedules, and vendor communication
Produce and update content to publicize the events on the NOW Hunters Point social media and website
Ensure the success of the event series, be prepared to troubleshoot any problems and provide attendee support
Collect data and feedback from event attendees
Prepare event supplies and lead on-site setup/breakdown
Identify key channels for reaching target audiences
Provide administrative support
20 hour a week commitment, including Saturdays
Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills
Ability to work with communities of various ages and backgrounds
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Highly motivated, detail oriented and organized
